Entry Call out for 38th Annual Regional Competitive Art Exhibition

The due date for entry forms for the 38th Annual Regional Competitive Art Exhibition has been extended by a week to noon Friday May 13, 2022.

If you have not entered yet please consider doing so. There is still gallery space left to accommodate a few more entries, particularly in the landscape, seascape, figurative & portraiture and abstracts sections.

Collection of Paintings from The “A Kaleidoscope of Brushstrokes” Exhibition at the Gayndah Art Gallery – Monday Feb 28, 2022 9am – 11am at Gallery 5

Could all other members who participated in this Gayndah exhibition please collect their artworks from Gallery 5 on Monday 28th Feb. from 9.am to 11am. If you can’t collected them yourself, please make arrangement for someone else to pick up the artworks from the gallery. We have no room to store them at the premises.

The “A Kaleidoscope of Brushstrokes” Exhibition Opening – Exhibition On Now at the Gayndah Art Gallery

On Saturday Jan 22, 2022 the “A Kaleidoscope of Brushstrokes” Exhibition – a collection of Hervey Bay Art Society Member’s Art – was officially opened at the Gayndah Art Gallery.

Gayndah Art Gallery President Jane Glenn opened the exhibition and, amongst other things, praised the quality of the artworks on display. Jane then introduced Hervey Bay Art Society Vice-President Rolf Sieber who, among other things, thanked the Gayndah Art Gallery for the opportunity to show this cross section of Hervey Bay Art Society members’ art.

For those that didn’t attend the opening the exhibition runs until Feb 26, 2022 at the Gayndah Art Gallery located at 34 Meson St Gayndah and is, with 60 high quality paintings on display in a beautiful art space, well worth a visit.

2021 ART SALE – Expression of Interest

The Hervey Bay Art Society will be holding a 50% off art sale where Hervey Bay Art Society members will have the opportunity to sell surplus art. Members of the public will have the opportunity to pick up some great paintings at very attractive prices.

Hervey Bay Art Society Members who wish to sell some of their surplus art please submit the ‘Expression of Interest Entry Form’ below. This event will only move forward if a strong number of entries are received by the members. Members, please support this if you can. Entry Forms due in by 12 noon Monday Oct 11, 2021 at Gallery 5.

‘Ways of Watercolour’ – Workshop with Robin Hines – Saturday Mornings Oct/Nov 2021 and early 2022 – Sign Up Sheet Now Available

Robin Hines will be conducting a course of eight workshops about the Ways of Watercolour done in four workshops prior to Christmas and four after. These workshops will be teaching a wide variety of watercolour techniques.

To make payment easier the first four can be paid prior to starting and the second four after Christmas break.

All workshops will be on Saturday mornings (9:30am-12:30pm). There are positions for up to ten participants for this series of workshops that fall on 23rd and 30th October, 6th and 13th November 2021. They will be suitable for intermediate watercolour artists or artists of other media who wish to learn about watercolours. The cost is a very reasonable $35 per session to paid which means the first payment is 4 sessions for $140 (a bargain for this level of teaching ).

Payments can be made at Gallery 5 and a list will be up on our notice board for interested members to add their name and receipt number. Remember it is the first ten to pay $140 and put their name on the list who will get to experience this series of workshops. Each participant then has the first choice to do the second four workshops early next year. If you are interested, act quickly. NB. Please ensure you have artist quality supplies for these workshops.

‘Mainly Clouds’ – using Pastel Over Alcohol-treated Under-paintings – Workshop with Violetta Sandry – 24th Nov & 1st Dec 2021 – Sign Up Sheet now Available

Violetta Sandry has kindly offered her services for two more workshops (after the Nov 10 & 17 workshops were oversubscribed) about doing Pastel over Alcohol-treated pastel underpaintings. As most landscapes have clouds of some sort in them, Violetta has that as the focus – Mainly Clouds.

The workshops will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon 12:30-4:30pm on the 24th of November and the 1st of December 2021 at Gallery 5.

Total cost for two workshops is $64.

These workshops are limited to 15 participants. Please pay and sign up as soon as possible. The workshop sign up sheet is on the Gallery 5 noticeboard.

Gayndah – HBAS Member Exhibition (2022) – Expressions of Interest

We [HBAS] are looking for Expressions of Interest for the Gayndah Exhibition which will be held from 11th Jan to 26th February 2022.  We need members to indicate if they would like to enter and how many pieces they wish to exhibit.  Artworks must be out at Gayndah by 8-9th January 2022.  Rolf Sieber can organise to take some paintings out there in his van.  We have space for approximately 30 reasonable size paintings and 20 smaller painting.

For those who could not get to Gatakers Artspace to visit the 37th Annual Competitive Art Exhibition, this is your chance to see the best hanging at Gallery 5. Artwork Pickup (37th Annual Regional) from Gatakers Artspace

Thank you to all those who entered our 37th Annual Competitive Art Exhibition. Artworks can now be picked up on Monday Aug 16, 2021 or Tuesday Aug 17, 2021 between 9:30am – 3:30pm. The entry form specified Tuesday Aug 17, 2021 pickup only but Monday is now being offered as well.

If you are a Hervey Bay Art Society member and received an award at the 37th Annual Competitive Art Exhibition then the art society would love to hang your award winning work on Friday Aug 20, 2021 as part of the usual General Hanging change-over.
