Art Education

Overview

Results from our recent workshop with Jenni Kelly having fun with acrylics. August 2023

The main focus of Hervey Bay Art Society is the promotion of the fine arts in the Fraser Coast Region. To this end there are many art sessions and art workshops conducted year round at Hervey Bay Art Society’s Gallery 5. The art sessions and workshops are many and varied ranging from social painting groups to intense skills based training. There are beginners workshops, drawing workshops and tutoring available in all the major media. There are art sessions held every week as well as regular workshops and one off workshops that are conducted when the opportunities arise.

Please have a browse below of all the art sessions and workshops that we have on offer. We hope to see you at gallery 5 attending a workshop in the near future. Also consider becoming a member of the Art Society as many art sessions and workshops are discounted for members and some workshops are members only.

Art Sessions

Art Sessions end on 20th December 2023 and recommence on 3rd January 2024. Wishing all a very Happy and Safe Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Art sessions are held most days of the week at Gallery 5 apart from end of year closure. Check the yearly schedule for when that is. Many of our art sessions are open to non-members as well as members. On Tuesdays U3A makes use of our gallery and their workshop is accessible by contacting them. These art sessions are typically fairly informal (volunteer tutors give some guidance for some sessions) and are nominally priced to cover gallery expenses only. Please read more about the art sessions you are interested in by reading and selecting from the items below.

Workshops

Workshops are held regularly at Gallery 5. They are typically more intense skills based training compared to the regular sessions that are available. Because a professional tutor is normally employed they typically cost more (but you typically learn more) than the regular art sessions. Mix and match both types of activities to progress your art. Find out more about the workshops you may be interested in by reading and selecting from the items below.
