What the Social Painting Group Does
The Wednesday Weekly Workshop is a social painting group covering 2D art (painting and drawing).
Violetta Sandry and Carole Rowe alternate in the role of convenor. Other attendees step in as the convenor when neither of these are available. The convenor is responsible for collecting the money and opening and closing the building but is not there as a tutor.
Tables, chairs and full size easels are provided but all other equipment needs to be supplied by the artist. Artists work on their own projects but are free to socialise and discuss art with other artists as they wish. If you want a workshop that has a designated tutor please consider attending other sessions.
Any adult (18 years or over) member of the public or member of the art society can attend this workshop.
This workshop is held in the workshop area of the Gallery 5 building located at 5 Sandy St, Urangan Qld.
The cost of workshop is $7 for art society members and $10 for non-members.
No pre-booking is required – simply show up with your art equipment and fee and you can join in the workshop.
There is normally morning tea taken mid morning. Coffee, tea, milk, sugar, biscuits and crockery is provided and covered by the cost of the workshop.
Gallery 5 is currently operating under a COVID Safe Plan. Read More>
First Time Attending
It can be a bit daunting showing up cold to an art workshop – especially if you are interested in painting but haven’t done much. An easy way is to show up one Wednesday morning (sans equipment) and check out the facilities for yourself. Have a look around the gallery and workshop and have a talk to the convenor and other attendees and see what is involved and if it is for you.
If you are interested in art and have time to pursue it – don’t put it off – come and join in – attend the workshops and hopefully join as a member.
