Kim Herringe Workshop 5 & 6 April 2025

Dive into the world of monoprinting with this 2-day workshop designed to introduce and expand
your skills in gelatin plate printing. No prior printmaking experience needed. This workshop
blends creative play with intentional composition techniques.
Day 1 – all about the basics and becoming familiar with the process:
On Day 1, you’ll explore the basics of gel plate monoprinting, using found and organic objects to
create vibrant, one-of-a-kind prints. Emphasising experimentation and fun, you’ll discover how to
apply this process to paper and textiles.
Day 2 – taking an intentional approach to the printing, colour, composition and layering:
Day 2 builds on these foundational skills, introducing intentional layering techniques, colour
selection and design principles such as balance and composition. You’ll learn how to think ahead
with your prints, crafting more planned and complex works using plant materials and simple
objects.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a rich collection of prints and a deeper understanding of
how to incorporate this versatile process into your creative practice. Whether you’re a painter
looking to try something new or a beginner-creative seeking a fun, approachable medium, this
workshop has something for everyone.
