Jill Byrnes
Artist Biography
 
Before moving to Hervey Bay some 25 years ago I lived in northern Australia, working with Indigenous people for many years.  I am fascinated by shapes, flows, colours and textures in the environment, and explore this in my art. I endeavour to express a living, inter-connected Earth in my artwork, in a variety of media.   
 
I have been painting and drawing all my life. I have a Certificate in Art and Design from TAFE, and enjoy participating in workshops with talented artists. However I am largely self taught through experimentation with pastel, watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media. 
 
I have received a number of awards, and been represented in the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, Gatakers Artspace, Jinx Art Gallery, Bundaberg Art Prize and others. 
 
My art is represented in a number of private collections and I have completed some commissions. I am represented in a number of public collections including Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre and Kal’ang Community Centre.
