What the Social Painting Group Does

The Monday Weekly Art Session is a social painting group covering 2D art (painting and drawing).
Marianne Bayer / Shanti Rahal (1st & 3rd Mondays of the month). Other attendees step in as the convenor when she is not available. The convenor is responsible for collecting the money and opening and closing the building but is not there as a tutor.
Tables, chairs and full size easels are provided but all other equipment needs to be supplied by the artist. Artists work on their own projects but are free to socialise and discuss art with other artists as they wish. The convenor of the social painting group is not there as a tutor. If you want a workshop that has a designated tutor please consider attending other sessions.
Attendance Requirements
Any adult (18 years or over) member of the public or member of the art society can attend this art session.
This art session runs from 9 am to 12 noon every Monday (apart from year end break and occasional closures (e.g. building maintenance) – see our weekly program or homepage for details of closures).
This art session is held in the workshop area of the Gallery 5 building located at 5 Sandy St, Urangan Qld.
The cost of this art session is $7 for art society members and $10 for non-members.
No pre-booking is required – simply show up with your art equipment and fee and you can join in the art session.
There is normally morning tea taken mid morning. Coffee, tea, milk, sugar, biscuits and crockery is provided and covered by the cost of the workshop.
First Time Attending
It can be a bit daunting showing up cold to an art session – especially if you are interested in painting but haven’t done much. An easy way is to show up one Wednesday morning (sans equipment) and check out the facilities for yourself. Have a look around the gallery and art session and have a talk to the convenor and other attendees and see what is involved and if it is for you.
If you are interested in art and have time to pursue it – don’t put it off – come and join in – attend the workshops and hopefully join as a member.
