Weekly Friday Morning Tutored Art Session – All Media

Snapshot of a typical Friday Art Session (circa 2017).

What the Art Session Covers

Friday art tutor Lynn Munn (on right) seen here receiving 1st prize for her entry in the 2021 Members Monthly competition – Miniatures – for “Eventide” (HBAS President Mark Brose shown here presenting).

The Friday Weekly Art Session is a tutored art session covering 2D art (painting and drawing).

Rolf Sieber tutors all media. Lynn Munn tutors pastels & sketching.

Tables, chairs and full size easels are provided but all other equipment needs to be supplied by the artist. Artists work on their own projects and the tutors come around and discuss and assist. Friday art sessions are not conducted as a class but rather as a mentoring session with the tutors. Other artists in the class will also assist and discuss art as well of course.

If you are a new artist and have just been dabbling please do not be put off. Come in with whatever you have been working with and mention to the tutors that you are a newbie and they will point you in the right direction.

Attendance Requirements

Any adult (18 years or over) member of the public or member of the art society can attend this art session.

This art session runs from 9 am to 12 noon every Friday (apart from year end break and occasional closures (e.g. building maintenance) – see our weekly program or homepage for details of closures).

This art session is held in the workshop area of the Gallery 5 building located at 5 Sandy St, Urangan Qld.

The cost of the art session is $7 for art society members and $10 for non-members.

No pre-booking is required – simply show up with your art equipment and fee and you can join in the art session.

There is normally morning tea taken mid morning. Coffee, tea, milk, sugar, biscuits and crockery is provided and covered by the cost of the workshop.

First Time Attending

It can be a bit daunting showing up cold to an art session – especially if you are interested in painting but haven’t done much. An easy way is to show up one Friday morning (sans equipment) and check out the facilities for yourself. Have a look around the gallery and art session and have a talk to the tutors or reception and see what is involved and if it is for you.

If you are interested in art and have time to pursue it – don’t put it off – come and join in – attend the workshops and hopefully join as a member.
