What the Art Session Covers

This session consists of practicing drawing the human form from life.

As this time slot is during gallery opening hours the models will wear items of clothing for these sessions.

It is envisaged that participants in these sessions will share in the modelling to keep costs down. This will involved posing for 5, 10 or 20 minute poses.

The convenor of this Life drawing art session is Katherine Walsh. It is held every 1st & 3rd Thursday afternoon of each month from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. These sessions were instituted on Apr 7, 2022.

Attendance Requirements

Any adult (18 years or over) member of the public or member of the art society can attend this art session.

This art session runs from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm every 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month (apart from year end break and occasional closures (e.g. building maintenance) – see our weekly program or homepage for details of closures).

This art session is held in the workshop area of the Gallery 5 building located at 5 Sandy St, Urangan Qld.

The cost of this art session is $7 for art society members and $10 for non-members.

Pre-booking is required – email the art society (herveybayartsociety@bigpond.com) or contact Katherine Walsh if you wish to attend.

There is normally afternoon tea taken mid afternoon. Coffee, tea, milk, sugar, biscuits and crockery is provided and covered by the cost of the art session.

First Time Attending

It can be a bit daunting showing up cold to an art session – especially if you are interested in painting but haven’t done much. An easy way is to show up one Thursday afternoon (sans equipment) and check out the facilities for yourself. Have a look around the gallery and art session and have a talk to the tutors or reception and see what is involved and if it is for you.

If you are interested in art and have time to pursue it – don’t put it off – come and join in – attend the art sessions and hopefully join as a member.
