Jane Backhaus Artist Profile

Jane’s love of art was fostered in high school by an inspiring art teacher and artist, John Honeywell. Her career as an educator allowed her to explore art with her students in both city and rural communities. After moving to Brisbane Jane decide rekindle her artist skills under the tutorage of Sveltlana Trefilova. This art group met weekly, explored the techniques of the masters, different mediums and had a lot of fun.
Upon retiring, Jane had the time to dedicate to her art and continue to learn new skills in both acrylic and oil. As a member of the Hervey Bay Art Society Jane has further developed her art with great tutors and artists. Nature, light and colour are the inspiration and subject matters for Jane’s paintings. Somewhere in each of her paintings is the love of the impressionist style of colour and light. Jane regularly exhibits in the monthly exhibitions at Gallery 5, Urangan. She has been awarded Highly Commended Emerging Artist Certificates in several exhibitions.
After attending a Chris Postle workshop, Jane is all set to unleash the impressionist urge!
