Kerri-Ann : March Artist of the Month 2026
Kerri-Ann Condrin moved to Hervey Bay four years ago. Now a retired educator, she is enjoying exploring art once again. She focuses on observing the beautiful natural environment that surrounds her at her home in Point Vernon, and other places she visits, and seeks to capture those fleeting impressions in her artworks. Working in a variety of mediums (pastel, pen/ink, acrylics, sculpture-papier mache) she produces images that focus on colour, texture and light. Mindfulness is an important practice for Kerri-Ann and she hopes her audiences can experience the moments she enjoys and captures.
BACKGROUND
Kerri-Ann grew up on a dairy farm (Cedar Valley) near the small South Burnett town of Wondai. She did not get the opportunity to study Art at school until year 11/12. However, she cannot remember a time when she did not draw and create. Her art studies introduced her to the Elements and Principles of art and the history of art; these were a revelation! She was captivated by the work of Impressionist and Post Impressionist artists in particular with that influence still being seen strongly in her use of colour, texture, light and brush strokes. She went on to Teachers College at Kelvin Grove in Brisbane and studied Art teaching. She majored in sculpture and specialised in Bronze Castings. Her love of painting and drawing developed through her teaching of others. She is a strong proponent of ‘drawing on the right side of the brain’ theory and spent her art teaching career helping others to unlock their artistic potential. Her teaching career steered her away from teaching art for a couple of decades, and the demands of her positions and family life limited her ability to pursue her own artistic creations. Once she retired however, that all changed and Kerri-Ann is loving having the time to focus on her art now. Her new studio is her pride and joy.
